Loki's eyes snap open as Clint suggests he leave so he can rest. Ignoring the pain, he reaches out and pulls himself closer, head shaking frantically. It's pathetic, Clint will have to leave eventually, but right now he doesn't care. Maybe tomorrow he'll be able to stand it, but not tonight.
"Okay. Good, cuz I don't wanna leave, either. We'll take care of things later." He breathes out slow, trying to get himself back to calm. It isn't a dream, but it feels too good to be reality. To get back something that had been taken so unceremoniously. "Haven't...slept in the same bed as anyone in a while."
"Nothing you did. Not like you meant to just up and vanish through the rainbow bridge and leave me to man the fort myself." The joke is that Laura's the one who is the one who could be said to man anything in the family.
"We're gonna have to talk about what happened to you. At some point. Figuratively talk. Not now. We'll wait until you're stronger."
The grip on Clint's shirt tightens just a little as Loki gives a quick nod. Of course he would want to know what happened. Loki has a feeling it won't be the only time he has to explain, so it's probably best he start collecting his thoughts now.
Well, 'now' as in in the morning. Thinking isn't really happening right now.
"We can stay just like this. But might be more comfy if we lay you back down. To sleep, I mean. I don't want to exhaust you, for once." But he's sure slept in worse positions than sitting up in bed. "Could keep talking at you but I...don't know that I'm all that great company, right now."
Loki waggles his eyebrows, but the motion is somewhat aborted when he goes to lay back, the litany of pain as he moves causing him to wince. If he weren't so exhausted, he probably wouldn't sleep at all.
He would very much like to hear more of Clint's voice but...he gets that the man probably isn't in much of a talking mood right now. Instead he grabs the pen and paper one more time.
It's painful to watch Loki in pain, tries to help however he can. Clint isn't tired, not in the least, but...resting with someone he loves beside him might still help.
The request startles a little chuckle out of him. "Yeah? Okay, uh, gotta think of something..."
Something he knows by heart that he can sing without musical accompaniment that also isn't loud or exciting. Loki needs to rest. He doesn't need something to keep him up. He hums a few notes like trying to shake some dust off before: "Somewhere over the rainbow way up high, there's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby." He keeps an arm around Loki. "Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true."
It's clear Clint hasn't sung in a while, but Loki doesn't care. The soft rumble of his voice is just what he needs to take his mind off of the pain. He floats in that hazy space between conscious and unconscious, and for once it feel comforting rather than terrifying.
It doesn't take long for him to fall asleep, one hand clutching Clint's as tightly as possible.
And it's hard to celebrate even this. Because he doesn't know what it means. Doesn't know if it's real. Doesn't know how to get them all back. But...one thing at a time.
Loki's hurting. And Clint has to put his plans on hold to see to it that Loki stops hurting.

He can't bend his head back too much, but enough that he's able to give Clint a sad smile and mouth 'Sorry.'
